Thank you everyone who came to my Building "Pure" Ajax Applications talk in Orlando! Here are the performance results recorded during the talk:

Server-Side ASP.NET : 2,884 bytes (response size)

Server-Side ASP.NET AJAX (Update Panel) : 1,663 bytes (response size)

Client-Side AJAX (with Web Service Call) : 778 bytes (response size)

Finally, here is the code for the different approaches discussed during the talk:

The talk code includes the pure declarative client-side control sample. This sample also demonstrates how to create templates that can be parsed and used entirely on the client.

is there any way to refresh page contents with client side ajax?
